Getting out of a mental block

07/11/2021

Hi everyone I know I have not posted in a LONG time. I hit a mental block, where I felt like I was overworking myself so much where fitness and nutrition became a chore rather then what I loved and looked forward to in my day. This was so frustrating and draining for me because after almost 8-9 months of being happy and motivated I did not have any positive motivation or interest for any of it.

I am so happy and excited to say that the mental block that was holding me back is finally gone and I want to share what helped me get out of my head and start showing up for myself again.

1.) DISCONNECT: I decided to cut back on social media so much at the end of winter. The first week was extremely hard. But once I realized how draining our phones can be I realized I had so much time to work on my myself that I didn't even need to think about checking my phone. If you feel like you have no "time" to do good things for yourself, MAKE TIME. Disconnecting creates a habit of prioritizing yourself and allows yourself to make time in your day for creativity, self improvement and self care.

2.) SLEEP: My sleep schedule has turned into something I really prioritize. Im going to make a more in detail blog post on why it is so beneficial to get good sleep, but getting enough sleep at night has so many positive benefits that will give you more energy for your day and a clear mindset to get back on track!

3.) FEED YOUR BRAIN!: Self help and motivating books are amazing. Reading empowering books that open your mind to advice and knowledge you never would even could help you, is so beneficial and feeds your brain with inspiration and drive for motivation.   Each book I have read I can take at least 1 if not more key tips that I try to use and remind myself to do in my life now when I feel like I am entering a mental block.

4.) AFFIRMATION: One thing I began to do each day when I first wake up is write down 5-10 affirmations to start my day with. Days can be hard waking up and finding something positive to write down, but on those days whatever negativity or hurt I am feeling I write down the opposite. For example: If I wake up and my anxiety is high I try to write down affirmations such as " I release all thoughts that do not serve me, I am calm and at peace, I let go of what I can not change and do my best with what I can today. You are not going to be 100% motivated every single day. You are aloud to have bad days, restful days, and days where you feel like you don't even want to get out of bed. For me waking up and trying to set good intentions for my day even though it may not feel like a good one reminds me that I have control over my mind and my body and how I can get through this day.

5.)PRIORITIZE A TIME IN YOUR DAY FOR YOU: Something I started to do again that I did earlier in my fitness journey is wake up super early. I have always been a morning person and the feeling of waking up super early is really beneficial to me. I have become more obsessed with my mornings each day. Waking up and going outside where the world feels quiet and peaceful is something I adore. It allows me to have a time where I can be creative, do positive things for myself and start my day on the right note without feeling rushed. No matter what time of day works best for you I encourage you to take a pause in your day to do something good for yourself.
